Sophie Woessner , a senior majoring in electrical engineering and physics, serves in the Air National Guard out of the 133rd Airlift Wing in St. Paul. She is active on campus as the vice president of Tommie Strength, a health and fitness club; the treasurer of the St. Thomas Society of Women Engineers; a physics tutor; and part of the university’s Observatory crew. After graduation, she plans to build and design solar fields all over the southern U.S. “I chose the University of St. Thomas because of the small, tight community. The School of Engineering wants to see students succeed and they give us the tools to do so. They helped pay for me and other female engineer students to attend a national conference in Houston, which led to great networking opportunities, job offers and an overall amazing experience to be around women in engineering.”
