Being a working mom and a graduate student must have been very challenging! My best memory is the day I walked across the stage at graduation with top honors and saw my family in the audience. In that moment, all the hard work seemed so worth it because we all became better people through those busy years, and my girls got to witness firsthand the importance of education, hard work, self-improvement and family. Why did you want to be part of the alumni group at Best Buy? I really believe in the potential to facilitate professional growth opportunities, build talent pipelines, garner business support and give back through the service of this group. We’re just getting started, but we’ve had some incredible common- interest engagements with St. Thomas so far, including our kickoff event with our CEO, Corie Barry, and Dick Schulze, the founder of Best Buy and the Schulze School of Entrepreneurship; a “Tommie Talk” with Patricia Hedberg on the personal side of change; and the St. Thomas First Friday event in February with Corie.

Betsy Maus ’15 MBA Director of Automated Retail, Best Buy How has your degree from St. Thomas helped you in your career? I really enjoyed the MBA program as it allowed me to continue to work at a job and company I loved, while fostering my knowledge and growth as a professional. I also started my family while working and taking courses at St. Thomas at night. While I certainly didn’t enjoy much free time during those years, the time spent in the classroom with other working parents and professionals, bettering ourselves for the future of our families, was well worth it.

What connections have you drawn between St. Thomas and Best Buy? I think we all want the same thing at the end of the day. We want to build the best life we can for our families and communities. At Best Buy and St. Thomas, alike, we do that through personal and professional development, conducting ourselves in an ethical manner, and giving back to the communities we are a part of. At the end of the day, it’s about being human and being grounded in purpose. Interested in connecting with Tommies at your company? link.stthomas.edu/corporatealumni
