Lee & Penny Anderson Arena Seating Guide

Lee & Penny Anderson Arena Overview Construction is underway on the University of St. Thomas’ South Campus for the new Lee & Penny Anderson Arena, planned to open in the fall of 2025. This state-of-the-art facility will host Tommie Men’s and Women’s Ice Hockey and Basketball programs. It will feature advanced practice facilities, coaching offices, locker rooms, sports performance and nutrition areas, a second ice rink, and team spaces for Tommie Softball and Soccer programs. Additionally, it will serve as a versatile venue for campus events, benefiting both student-athletes and the wider St. Thomas community. Lee & Penny Anderson On January 17, 2023, St. Thomas announced the $75 million lead naming gift from Lee and Penny Anderson – two long-standing benefactors of Minnesota’s largest private university – to construct a multiuse, on-campus arena in St. Paul that will be home to its Division I men’s and women’s hockey and basketball programs. The donation is one of the ten largest known collegiate athletics gifts ever received nationally. The $75 million gift from Lee and Penny Anderson surpasses a previous $60 million donation made by the Andersons in 2007 for the construction of the Anderson Student Center, Anderson Athletic & Recreation Center, and Anderson Parking Facility.

In total, the Andersons have donated nearly $140 million – including multiple gifts to scholarships and in support for veterans resources – to the mission-driven, Catholic university. Lee and Penny Anderson’s most recent contribution to the University of St. Thomas launched the campaign for the Lee & Penny Anderson Arena.
